The Bog Child
Title:The Bog Child
Author: Siobhan Dowd
Summary: Fergus and his Uncle Tally are digging in the bog when they find the body of a girl. After more investigations they realize she's been murdered. Fergus begins having dreams of a girl called Mel who lived years ago. While dealing with this he's also worrying about his brother Joe on the hunger strike in prison and his developing friendship with soldier Owen and feelings for Cora. Fergus, Cora and Cora's mum, Felicity, begin realizing the truth behind Mel, the bog child, and their real relationships with each other.
Cover: Dark greys and greens and a blurry image of a boy standing with his arms stretched out. The title is in white and the authors name is in red.
My thoughts on the novel: I thought the book never really came to a climax it just stayed at the one level of excitement throughout the whole book. I also thought the way she kept having the charachters say: "Fergus?" "What?" "What do you think archaologists will think of this in two thousand years time?" or "Fergus?" "What?" "I'm sorry." I just felt like they could have gotten straight into the conversation instead of saying their name and then what. I would give this book 4 out of 10.

Book Review on Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox
Title: Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox
Author: Eoin Colfer
Summary: Artemis is an extremely clever boy. In the past he has gone on many adventures with and against the Fairies which he has met because of his cunning plans. (As many readers of the books know.)
In the Time Paradox, Artemis has returned to his home after being in Limbo for three years. Only to find that his mother has caught a deadly disease. He must then travel back in time, with the help of Captain Holly Short, Foaly and a certain dwarf to recapture the antidote from his younger, but no less arrogant, self.
Cover: Dark green with splashes of silver water on the top and a bright yellow light coming from the right hand side.
My thoughts on the novel: I loved these books when I was younger because they were so funny. I got this book for christmas off my grandparents and i found it very hard to get into at the beginning. I had to really push myself to get over the first few pages. My favourite character is Mulch the Dwarf because he is so funny with all his gas problems. I also like Artemis because some things he said were very clever and funny.
Ratings out of ten: 7 it's a very funny book but hard to concentrate on at the start.

Romeo and Juliet
I thought the story was really interesting. It was full of action and tradgedy (at the end).
My favourite charachter was Mercutio because he loved the sound of his own voice, he was the first to die and even as he died he was still making puns about being a "grave man". He was also Romeo's best friend.
I thought the ending was good that Capulet and Montague were able to talk to each other, even if there still is a bit of rivalry between them.
I thought it was unfair that the Friar got away just because he was Holy. I know it wasn't really his fault that they both decided to kill themselves, but if he had killed them he would have gotten away with it because he was a Holy man.
I thought it was sad that Montague had lost his whole family and th
at he scolded his son for dieing before him.
I thought the way Juliet's father treated her, because she wouldn't do what he wanted, was terrible. It's her life and even if he was that angry he went a bit far with the name calling. Her mother was no better and then when they thought she had died they were crying and saying that they loved their only daughter. Then how could they have been so mean to just abandon her.
I thought the nurse changed alot when she told Juliet she thought she should marry Paris. She seemed like a totally different person, more subdued.
Juliet did go through alot more than Romeo. She lost her cousin, her parents threatened to disown her, she had to face the task of drinking a potion she wasn't too sure about. Not to mention having to lie in a coffin, putting alot of trust in Romeo and Friar Lawrence.
I give Romeo and Juliet 8 out of 10. The play was hard to understand if you didn't have anyone explaining it to you. It is probably very good to watch on stage.

The Blurred Man by Anthony Horowitz
Title: The Blurred Man
Author: Anthony Horowitz
Number of pages: 62 - it's short.
Plot: Tim Diamond is the world's worst private dective. He's on a case about a missing charity worker, with the help of his 14 year old brother they find out what really happened to Lenny Smile, and what happened to the two million dollars Joe Carter donated to Dream Time.
Ratings: I give this book 6 out of 10 because some parts of the book were laugh out loud funny and the story was good but it tried a bit too hard to be funny and the outcome was pretty obvious.
My thoughts on the novel: I thought the novel was good but it was short and they seemed to solve the case pretty fast.
My favourite charachter: was Tim because I found the things he did and said funny because he was such an idiot.
I recommend this to anyone who likes to laugh at their book!

Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry
Title: Roll of thunder hear my cry
Author: Mildred D. Taylor
Ratings out of ten: 4 out of ten because there was nothing in the book I enjoyed. I found it really boring.
Front cover description: There is a painted picture of a sad girl (Cassie) in a blue dress. The writing is in yellow in the bottom half of the cover on a blue background.
My thoughts on the novel: I thought it really showed the injustice that was happening at that time and a few times it was good but for the better half of it, it was boring. the end wasa real disappointment, it didn't really clear anything up. I didn't like the way Cassie seemed really nosey always asking questions when stacey or someone didn't want to tell her.I didn't really like Cassie and she narrated the whole book so i did not like that either.
The best bit of the book was when Mr. Morrison told his story of his childhood, or Stacey's plan to get back at the white children's bus.
