book review 3 (29th of January 2009)
Title: Kensukes Kingdom
Author: Michael Morpurgo
No. of pages: 176
Rating out of ten: 10/10
Summary: This book is about Michael, Stella (Michael's dog) and Michaels parents who were sailing along the ocean one day when Michael and Stella fell out of the boat and start to float out to sea. When they wake up the next morning they found themselves on a deserted island. They thought they were alone but the next morning Michael found a plate of banana's lieing beside him. So was he alone?
Who else was on the island with him?
My thoughts on the novel: I thought this novel was really good. It had really good images and used personification really well. I felt like I was actually there and I could see what Michael and Stella were seeing.
The happiest part in this novel was when Michael and Kensuke became best friends. Like father and son. The saddiest part of the novel was when Michael and Stella feel of the boat and had no food.
While I was reading this novel I felt sorry for Kensuke as he to got washed up on this island and thought that he had lost his wife and son.
The main themes in this novel are friendship and adventure
Front cover: The front cover of this novel has Michael and his parents in a boat sailing down the sea.
The main characters: The main characters in this novel were Michael, Stella and Kensuke. My favourite character was Kensuke as he was a very changable character. This is evident in many parts of the novel. For example at the start of the novel he is a grumpy old man who won't let Michael cross to his side of the beach. Then he changes into a nice and caring friend to Michael as he saved him from drowning and then he turn back into a grumpy old man when Michael tried to get help from a boat that was passing the island.
Would i recommened this novel and why: I would one hundred percent recommend this book to others. It is a really good book to read and also very easy to read.

She has stayed with Charlie (her dad) the past three summers for two weeks, but this time she was actually living there. It is on her first day of school when she meets the Cullens- Edward, Alice, Jasper, Rosalie and Emmett. Dr. Carlise and Esme have adopted them, Rosalie and Jasper are twins. They are Hales and Edward and Emmett are brothers(cullens).Ever since Bella and Edward meet they couldn't take their eyes of each other. Bella realises that the closer she gets to Edward the more she puts herself and everyone around her in trouble. Will Edward and Bella be together forever??????
Front Cover: The front cover of this book has a black backround with two hands holding an apple. If you read this book you will find out what this is about.
My thoughts on the novel: I thought this novel was brilliant. The author made this book very vivid. When she was describing the tone in Edwards' voice you could really hear it. I think the book is better then the movie as you can really sence the emotion behind eveything much bettert then in the book. I thought think the actors conveyed the emotions that good. Another thing I like about this book is that it is then sort of bookk that once you pick it up you wouldn't put it down.
Main characters: The main characters are Edward, bella, Charlie and James(the hunter). My favourite character was Edward as he was full of mystery. I also liked the fact that he could read minds and the way his eyes turned different colours when he was hungery
While is was reading I felt: I felt sorry for Bella. The reason being that she had to put up with so much. She had to lie to her father and then she was face to face with death and that most not have been a very good experience. I also felt happy for Edward and Bella at the end of the book when they went to prom together.
Would you recommend this book and why: Yes, i would definately recommend this book to others as it is a great read. You just want to keep going when you start. It is also a very different book that you might read as there is not many books about vampires.

Book Report 2 (28th of november)
Title: Romeo and Juliet
Author: William Shakespeare
Number of pages: 256
Rating out of ten: 10
Summery: This book is about two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, who are members of the Capulet family and the Montague family. They fall in love at the Capulets party but soon find out that the person they love are from the family they are suppose to hate but they will not let the fueding families get in their way and soon decided to get married. They can't tell their parents and so the only two people that know about the marriage are the nurse, a woman who looks after Juliet, and Friar Lawrence, a friend to Romeo and also the priest that marries Romeo and Juliet. Soon after the marriage Romeo gets banished from Verona because he killed Juliet's cousin Tybalt. Then Romeo and Juliet try to kill themself's, both at different times, because they won't be able to see each other any more so Friar Lawrence has to make a plan so that the lovers can be together again. His plan for Romeo was for him to go to Mantua for a while and Friar Lawrence will tell him what's going on in Verona. His plan for Juliet was for her to drink a poison that will make her seem dead for fourty-two hours. He will then write a letter to Romeo to come to Juliet's tomb and when she wakes up he will bring her back to Mantua with him but things go terribly wrong when Romeo doesn't receive the letter from Friar Lawrence telling Romeo of the plan. Balthazar, a friend of Romeo who knows of the marriage, comes to tell Romeo that Juliet is dead. Romeo rushes to Verona where he buys a poison. He then goes to Juliets tomb where he drinks the poison and kills himself. Just then Juliet awakens from her sleep to find Romeo lying beside her dead. She was so upset that she got Romeo's dagger and kills herself.
My thoughts on the plot: I thought the plot of this story was brilliant. I really liked this play and would read it again. I liked the way Shakespeare made the two families that they were from hate each other. I thought it made it more interesting because it meant that they weren't going to live happily ever after instead it would be very difficult for them to be together and I like that sort of stuff.
Front Cover: The cover of this book is mainly black with a red strip on the top with the authors name on it and a white strip on the right. It also has the name of the book and a red rose in the middle.
The Characters: The main characters include Romeo and Juliet, Lady and Lord Montague (Romeos parents) and Lady and Lord Capulet (Juliets parents). My favourite character is Juliet. She is my favourite character because she is very realistic. This is evident in the line " It is too rash, too unadvised, too sudden, too like the lightning". I think she is being realistic because getting married so quick is just like lightning. They don't even know each other that long and it's like they know each other forever. I also think she is brave. I think this because she was willing to drink the poison not knowing whether it would work for the fourty-two hours and she would wake up or would it kill her or would it even work at all and then she would have to marry Paris.
The play's resolution: I like the ending of the play but I would have liked if Romeo and Juliet didn't die. They were only seventeen and thirteen they had so mush more to do in life, so much more to see. It was terrible that because of their parents hate that destiny punished them and not their parents after all they weren't fighting. I did like the way the Prince put Juliet's name first when he said " For never was a story of more woe, Than this of Juliet and her Romeo" because she had went through alot more than Romeo had.
Themes of the play: The main theme of the play was love. I liked the way Shakespeare used the theme love. I liked the way when Romeo loved Rosaline he would give her all the money he had but when Romeo loved Juliet it was full of passion and he would rather die than be without Juliet. This is evident in the line " My life were better ended by their hate Than death prorogued, wanting of thy love". This line really shows us how much Romeo loves Juliet.
