Title:The Big Friendly Giant(The BFG)

The BFG is about a dream catching dream blowing giant.One night while blowing dreams into childrens rooms he finds a girl called Sophie who sees him bwing the dreams and in a panic takes sSophie away with him.The BFG tells Sophie about his dream catching and dream blowing and tells her she must live with him.Sophie is unsure about this as the giants eamn beings all giants except the BFG.

The BFG tells Sophie he catches dreams because of his marvellous ears.His ears are taller than Sophie.He catches dreams and puts them in jars so he can mix them up to make people dream about different things.When the BFG hears that the giants are once again going to a boarding school for and a boarding school for boys to eat the children the BFG feels helpless.Sophie comes up with a brilliant plan to make the Queen dream wat is going to happen so they can stop this from happening.Sophie and the BFG mix the dream and go to Buckingham Palace to the Queens bedroom and Sophie blows in the dream.The Queen realises her dream was real and calls on her royal army.The BFG tells the Head og the Army to get nine helicopters and bring them to Noddy Land when the giants are sleeping.They tie up the giants and air lift them to England and put them in a pit five hundred feet deep and inprison them forever and will never get out.

I thought the book was very good.I would recommend this book to people who have a lot of imagination and sense of humour.I would give thi book a  nine out of ten.It is one of my favourite books.

Title:The Dragonfly Pool

The Dragonfly Pool is set in World War II in England.Dr. Hamilton decides it would be best to send his daughter Tally, to boarding school in South London.Tally is shocked to realise that her father wants to send her away.Tally gets ready to go to Delderton.Her father brings her to the train where she sees her future classmates.Her classmates are not wearing uniforms and not wearing shoes.

Tally arrives to Delderton and meets her headmaster Mr.Daley who tells her the history of the school and the story of his favourite oak tree.Tally then meets her class tutor Mateo.Mateo is a wise young man,but seems a little strange particularly this school year.Tally begins to settle in and meets her art teacher Clemmy.Clemmy is a beautiful artist and model.It is the only way she can earn a living during these hard times.

Tally makes many friends.Her best frend is called Julia who loves to go to the movies a lot because her mother is a famous actress.One day Juliainvited Tally to go to the movies with her.Tally wasn't looking foward to the movie until she saw an advertisement about a place called Bergania,Where the young prince refuses to let Hitler take over Bergania.Later that day Tally saw an advertisement for a folk dance festival in Bergania.Tally loved the advertisement about Bergania in the movies she thought it would be great to go to Bergania and even greater to meet the prince.

The Prince Karil was only seven years old.His mother died when he was very young.Karil's father the King had hardly seen his son because he was so busy.The king of Bergania would welcome the folk dancers along with his son.Tally was given permission to gather a folk dance group and go to Bergania.They went to Bergania by boat and train.When they got there they were greeted by the King and Karil.Karil was really happy to see other children and wanted to go and talk to them.The Countess Fredrica said it was not a very wise idea.

Baron Gambetti would love for Hitler to come to Bergania and on the day of the folk dance festival he arranged for the king to be shot.Karil was at the Dragonfly Pool when his father was killed.Matteo a friend of the king was left to be gaurdian of Karil.Karil is left to live with his Grandfather in Rottingdene House.He will also be living with his future wife Carlotta,a spoiled brat.

Karil is miserable in Rottingdene House.When his Grandfather dies he is able to stay with Tally's aunts in North London.Soon after he is able to go to Delderton and reunite with his friends.He is then given a part in the school play.His Uncle Fritz came from Bergania to watch Karil in his first schoool play.in the end Karil lived with Tally and her Father.

Six years later the people from the folk dancing festival arrived to the palace to celebrate new government and Tally and Karil remain best of friends.

I thought the story was really good.My favourite part was when Karil finally got to go to delderton.I would give this book 7/10 because some parts of the book were a little boring,and some parts were really long.I would recommend this book to everyone because it is one of my favourite books.

Title:Romeo and Juliet

Romeo And Juliet is a romantic tragedy about two lovestruck teenagers who's forbidden love for each other leads to their untimely death all because of a feud between their families.The play takes place for five days.Within these five days Romeo and Juliet meet,fall in love and die.as its says in the prologue"A pair of star-crossed lovers who take their life,whose misadventured piteous overthrows,doth with their death bury their parents' strife"

The story is set in Verona in Italy.The Capulets and the Montagues are the two most powerful families in Verona.After a feud they are no longer friends.Two of Capulet's servants,Sampson and Gregory start a feud with Tybalt,who is a Capulet.When Benvolio,Romeo's cousin tries to break up the fight Tybalt says "I hate the word as I hate hell,all Montagues,and thee" which shows he absolutely hates the Montagues.At this point the Prince Escalas is called to the scene of the fight and says to the two families"If ever you disturb our streets again,your lives shall pay the forfeit of the peace."which means if the families ever start another fight on the streets again they will be killed.

Lord Capulet Juliet's father has a conversation with Count Paris who wants to marry Juliet.Lord capulet says to wait two summers and then we shall see if she is ready to marry.Lady Capulet and Juliets Nurse talk about her getting married to Paris.Juliet says she shall wait until the party to see if she likes him and if she does she will cinsider marraige.Nurse interrupts the conversation as she begins to talk about how she and her husband raised Juliet after Susan,the Nurses daughter had died.She begins to tell stories of how her husband was a great man until Lady Capulet told her to be quiet.

Romeo is in love with a girl called Rosaline,but she does not love him back.This is called unrequited love Romeo loves Rosaline because he thinks she is the most beautiful girl in Verona.Romeo and Benvolio decide to sneek into the Capulet party so Romeo can see Rosaline,but instead meets Juliet and they instantly fall in love.Romeo compares Juliet to a jewel as he says "As a rich jewel in an Ethiops ear-"After the party Romeo sneeks into  Juliets garden and they arrande the wedding.

The next day Romeo goes to Friar Lawrence and asks him if he will perform the wedding.He says yes as he thinks this will stop the feud and make Verona a better place.Nurse helps arrange the wedding in secret.Meanwhile Tybalt is lookinf all around Verona for Romeo to ask him to fight,but instead of finding Romeo he finds Mercutio and Benvolio and fights with Mercutio who says Tybalt is the king of cats as tybalt is another name for cats.Romeo arriives amd tries to break up the fight between mercutio and Tybalt but gets in the way and Mercutio is killed.He blames Romeo as he says three times cursing his family "A plague o' both your houses."In fury Romeo kills Tybalt and runs away realising he has killed his new cousin.Once again the Prince is called to the scene and Benvolio tells the Prince of what had happened.Lady Capulet doesn't believe him because he is a Motague and demands Romeo be killed.The Prince decides to banish Romeo from Verona and if he is found in Verona he will be killed.This means he can't be with Juliet.

Romeo is hiding in Friar Lawrences cell thinking about what he has just done.Nurse comes to arrange for Romeo to spend his wedding night with Juliet before he leaves.Friar Lawrence is going to send Romeo to Mantua the next morning and have a man to give him news from Verona.Romeo spends his wedding night with Juliet.Meanwhile Capulet is arranging for Paris to marry Juliet.Capulet asks Lady Capulet to go get Juliet.Luckily he changes mind and says he will speak with her the next morning.The next morning Romeo says he must leave ,but Jukiet pleads to him to stay.Romeo says he would rather die than leave Juliet,then Juliet realises how selfish she is being and lets him go.

Lady Capulet comes to Juliets room and tells her she is to marry Paris.Juliet refuses and begs her father not to make her marry Paris,but Capulet forces her to marry him.Juliet then goes to Friar Lawrence and meets Paris who was askig the Friar if he would perform the wedding.When Paris leaves Juliet begs the Friar to help or she will take her life.The Friar provides her with a remedy that will put her i a deep sleep for fourty-eight hours.On the night before her wedding Juliet must drink the remedy so o the morning of her wedding people will think she has died.When she wakes in her tomb Romeo will have found out about the plan and be there to get her out.They would then go to Mantua and nobody will know.

Juliet's wedding is put on a day earlier.She takes the remedy the night before and is foundby her Nurse the next morning.Her weddin celebrationis turned into a funeral.Friar Lawrence goes to see Friar John to make sure his letter was sent to Romeo.He finds out it wasn't sent and decides he must get Juliet out of the tomb himself.Romeo's messenger comes with news of Juliet's death and Romeo goes to a chenist and gets poison to kill himself in Juliets tomb.

When Romeo goes to Juliets tomb He finds Paris.They begin to fight and Romeo kills him.Then Romeo realises he just killed someone who loved Juliet as much as he did.Romeo puts Paris beside Juliet.Romeo kisses Juliet and says"Thus with a kiss I die" and drinks the poiso.The Friar comes to the tomb to find Rmeo and Paris dead and Juliet waking up.Juliet wakes up to her husband and her lover dead.The Prince is called to the scene again and the Friar tries to get Juliet out of sight and into a convent,but she refuses.The friar runs into the shadows and Juliet takes Romeo knife and stabs herself.Capulet comes in and is horrified to see his daughter bleeding alongside Romeo and Paris.The friar tells the whole story to Capulet and Montague.And Romeo's messenger gives Montague a letter that Romeo wrote explaining everything.Thr Prince doesn't punish the Friar and the two families make amends.and the play ends "For never was a story more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo"

I really enjoyed doing Romeo and Juliet because some parts there was a lot of tension which made more ineresting.Three of my favourite qoutes are  "A pair of star-crossed lovers" as it tells how fate will interfere with their future together. Another one of my favourite quotes is "did my heart love till now? Forswear it,sight.For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night" as it shows how Romeo instantly falls in love with Juliet. My third favourite quote is "For never was a story more woe,than Juliet and her Romeo" as I think it is a nice line to finish off the play.

I thought some of the scenes were a bit boring because some of the speeches made by the characters were very long.I woud read this again,thats why I give it 10/10.My favourite character was Nurse because she always had a sense of humour about certaun things.Capulet wasn't a very understanding person because when Juliet refused to marry Paris he left her and said if she didn't marry him she would have to be throen out of the house.Friar Lawrence does what he thinks is best for Verona,but his ideas lead to Romeo and Juliet's death and he doesn't get punished for it.Tybalt is very impulsive.He doesn't care who he hurts as long as he still has his reputation.Benvolio always tries to keep the peace when a feud starts.Mercutio who is related to the prince always likes to make long speeches to make himself look intelligent.Lady Capulet always stands by her husbands decisions even if she does not agree with it.The Prince is always called to the scene of a fight between the Capulets and Montagues and soon gets tired of it and threatens them with death.

I like the the play ended as it was when the two families realise what their fighting has done and put some of the fighting behind them.Montague still tries to do better than Capulet by telling him he will have a statue made of Juliet in solid gold.The feuding isn't completely over ,but enough to keep Verona in peace.

Title:The twins at St.Clares

The twins at St.Clares is about Pat and Isabel's first term at St.Clares which is quite hard for the them.The twins are made go to St.Clares instead of going to Ringmere with their stuck up friends Mry and Frances Waters . At Redroofs the twins were always top in the class and were always looked up to.At St.Clares it is very different.The twins are bottom of the class and are looked down upon by the older girs.At first the girls act as if they are better than everyone else and find it hard to keep friends.Pat who enjoys playing sport and was the best at sport in Redroofs joins the lacrosse team at St.Clares and is not as good as she thought.So the twins decide to do their worst at St.Clares

When the twins arrive at St.Clares the are unaware that they have to share a room with six other girls,they have to mend their clothes or their bed sheets all by themselves and that they have to wear their uniform to dinner.When the twins realise that they are struggling in French they have to tutored.The twins soon realise that ding their worst at St.Clares is harder than doing their best and begin to like being in St.Clares.As they begin to change their ways they begin to make friends with Hilary and Janet.Janet has a great time pulling pranks.In history class Janet decides to put fire crackers into the fire but accidentely puts in too many and causes chaos.

At they end of the term the twins are not snobby or mean or vain.When they go home their parents are more than shocked that their two daughters are completely different people.They are looking foward to the next term when their cusin Alison will be joining them.

I thought this book was very interesting.It was very enjoyable.My favourite part was when janet put the fire crackers in the fire.I would recommend this book as it is a good book to read and is very funny.I would read this book again.

Journey to the River Sea is about  a girl called Maia who lost her parents when they were in Egypt.Maia goes to The Mayfair Academy For Young Ladies. It is the year of 1910.Maia recieved an invite to stay with her uncle, Mr. Carter, who lives in the amazon.Maia also recieved a letter from her cousins reading ' Dear Maia. We hope you come and live with us. We think it would be nice.' Maia left a few days after with her governess Ms.Minton. They sailed on a boat called 'The Cardinal'. On the boat Maia met a boy. His name was Clovis.Clovis Came with an acting group called 'The Pilgrim Players'. When Maia met him he was crying. He was to be a play 'Little Lord Fauntleroy'. Clovis was crying as he was afraid his voice would break during the show. In the next couple of weeks Maia and Ms.Minton arrived in Manaus, the main town in the Amazon.

When Maia arrived in Manaus a man called Furo was waiting to take Maia to her uncle's house. Maia and Ms.Minton travelled up the river to the Carters' deck in a spinich green boat. The Carters were waiting to greet Maia.When Maia met her cousins Gwendolyn and Beatrice they were both wearing white dresses with matching ribbons.They were twins. They had bloonde hair and always wore the same clothes.Mrs.Carter was a plump woman.She was obsessed with keeping heer house clean.Whenever she saw a fly or a spec of dust she woulde spray it with insect killer which made the house very stuffy. Mr.Carter was a tall man.He had pale skin and wore a black suit.The Carters' house was painted a spinich green colour.

Maia and her cousins were home schooled.The twins only worked from books by Mr.Bullman.Dr.Bullman's books were too easy for Maia an too hard for the twins.Ms.Minton wanted Maia to learn her subjects at a harder level and told Mrs.Carter that Maia was too slow for twins and could not keep up. From then on Maia worked on her own on the front porch.

Maia had to go to dancing class and learn ballet.She made many friends.When they had to choose partners Sergei,a Russian boy asked Maia to be his partner.The twins always went with each other because nobody liked them as they were  stuck up and mean.The ballet teacher was an elegant French woman ,about fifty and always had a black bun skewered high on her head.During one of the ballet classes two men in suits walked in.Their names were Mr.Trapwood and Mr.Low.They were looking for Bernard Taverner's son and take him back to England to meet his grandfather and take over Westwood when his grandfather passed.

At dinner time at the Carters' they only ate tinned food sent from England.It tasted awful.Maia wanted to try food from the Amazon,but Mrs.Carter wouldn't allow it.One evening the twins went into town with there mother to the theatre.The were going to see 'Little Lord Fauntleroy'.Maia wanted to go badly and explored the forest to find a way to Manaus.She had gotten lost and took a ride from an Indian boy.She arrived in Manaus and went backstage to find Clovis and recieved a free ticket to see the play.Unfortunatley Clovis' voice broke on stage and the twins stared laughing and then the whole audience went histarical.

Maia wanted to find the Indian boy again and luckily he sent for her.They met in a secret lagoon where he lived.They were also joined by Clovis who wanted to get back to England.They Indian boy introduced himself as Finn Taverner.He asked that Clovis go back to Westwood pretending he was him.Maia had to trick the twins to tell Mr.Trapwood and Mr.Low that the Taverner boy was in the Meauseum when it was actually Clovis.But the day before the plan would happen Sergei invited Maia and the twins to a party.The twins had already suspected that Maia knew where the missing boy was and twisted her arms back until she told them.They twisted her arms back so far she was in tears.

The twins told there mother and got a reward.Clovis went to England to claim Westwood.Fin told Maia that he was going to find the Xanti,the indian group his mother belonged to.Maia begged him to take her but he said no.Halfway through his journey he turned back to get Maia and her with him.When he got to her house it was burned down.Maia wasn't in the hospital with the rest of the Carters.Finn went back to find Maia she was on the ground under the rubble.She had taken sleeping tablets the night before and was still waking up from them.

He took her away to find the Xanti without telling anyone.Ms.Minton and a professor took a boat and went searching for Maia and Finn.When she found Maia and saw how happy she was,they continued looking for the Xanti.When they found it Maia and Ms.Minton were sent back to England.Ms.Minton was about to be fired when she explained how happy Maia was and how it felt and was allowed to bring Maia back to the Amazon.

Mrs.Carter and the twins went back to England to work for Lady Parsons,a woman Mrs.Carter wishes he was.Mr.Carter was made stay in the Amazon so he could go to court about all the money he owed to loan sharks and employies.
